SSAB to Host Public Sessions on State Agencies’ Role in Social Security Disability Determinations

Washington, DC—On Thursday, September 23, the Board will host a morning and afternoon public session on state agencies’ role in Social Security disability determinations. Please use the link below to register for both sessions.

Register for the Public Session

During the morning session, from 10 – 11:30 am EST, two former Social Security executives, Art Spencer and Melissa Spencer, will brief the Board on the regulations governing Social Security and state Disability Determination Services’ roles in the disability determination process.

During the afternoon session, from 1:15 – 3:15 pm EST, DDS Directors—representing agencies of varying sizes and organizational structures, and states with different demographic and socioeconomic characteristics—will describe the unique challenges they face managing disability determinations in their states.

The Board will host both sessions on Zoom and provide live closed captioning. Recordings will be made available on the Board’s website following the meeting. For past sessions, visit the Board’s meetings page.
