The Unsustainable Cost of Health Care

September 2009 It is essential that the United States take action to restrain the growth of future health care costs. The cost of health care is high and continues to grow rapidly, while its quality is not always commensurate with cost. There is no simple way to restrain the growth of costs while improving and ensuring quality. We need to improve the efficiency of the health care delivery system while aligning financial incentives to reward more efficient and effective care.
